A Welcoming Place to Begin

Online Quran Classes for New Muslims: Start from the Beginning, in English

If you accepted Islam recently, welcome. And if one of your first thoughts was about learning the Quran, you are in the right place.

Learning the Quran as a new Muslim is different from learning it as a child born into a Muslim household. You do not have years of mosque exposure, phonetic familiarity with Arabic sounds, or family members who can help you practice. You are starting from scratch in a tradition with its own language, its own script, and its own system of rules. That is a significant undertaking, and it deserves a learning environment that meets you where you actually are, not where someone assumes you should be.

What New Muslims Need That Standard Quran Programs Do Not Provide

Beginner learning the Quran online with personalized guidance

Standard Quran programs assume background familiarity. They assume you know what Tajweed is, why Noorani Qaida comes first, what a Juz is, or why Al-Fatiha appears in every prayer.

Our new Muslim program explains these things as part of the teaching, not as a detour from it. You do not need to study Islamic theology before starting Quran classes. But understanding why each step matters makes every step more meaningful and easier to retain.

The New Muslim Learning Path

Stage 01

Months 1 to 3

Noorani Qaida

The Arabic alphabet, correct pronunciation from each letter’s articulation point, vowel marks, letter connections, and foundational Tajweed rules. Teaching entirely in English. No prior Arabic knowledge assumed.

Stage 02

Months 3 to 6

Quran Reading with Tajweed

Applying the pronunciation foundation to actual Quranic text. Reading connected Ayah with Tajweed correction. By the end of this stage, most new Muslim students are reading short Surahs from the Mushaf independently.

Stage 03

Month 6 Onwards

Deepening Your Understanding

Continuing to build fluency, expanding to longer Surahs. Students who want to understand what they are reading can begin Tafseer once reading is fluent.

Practical Early Goals

First Surahs to Prioritize

Al-Fatiha first, then Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas, the four Surahs most immediately needed for daily prayer. These are integrated into the reading program as practical early goals.

Can Islamic Studies Run Alongside Quran Classes?

Yes, and for new Muslims this combination is often ideal. The Islamic Studies course covers the five pillars, daily Duas with pronunciation and translation, how to perform Salah step by step, and the Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.

Running one Quran session and one Islamic Studies session per week gives new Muslims both practical Islamic knowledge and Quranic reading progress simultaneously from the first week.

Balanced Weekly Learning

Two Complementary Sessions

Session 01

Quran Reading

Arabic letters, pronunciation, reading practice, and Tajweed foundations.

Session 02

Islamic Studies

Five pillars, Salah, daily Duas, and the life of the Prophet Muhammad.

Practical Islamic knowledge and Quran reading progress from the first week.

Questions from New Muslim Learners

Frequently Asked Questions: Quran Classes for New Muslims

I converted recently and do not know any Arabic. Where do I start?

Noorani Qaida, the structured primer that begins at the very first Arabic letter. Teaching is entirely in English. No Arabic background required.

How long until I can read Al-Fatiha correctly?

Most new Muslim students who practice daily between sessions read Al-Fatiha with correct Tajweed within 6 to 10 weeks of starting from zero. The letters in Al-Fatiha include some of the more challenging Arabic sounds, so correct pronunciation takes slightly longer than the text’s brevity suggests.

Are there female tutors for female converts?

Yes. Dedicated female Hafiza tutors are available for all courses. State preference at registration.

Is there a free trial?

Yes, three full sessions, no credit card.
